A Small Start, Built Around a Simple Idea

Paintbynumberskit.art started in a pretty ordinary way. We liked the idea of art, but not everyone around us felt comfortable picking up a blank canvas and knowing what to do with it. A lot of people want something creative to do, but they also want it to feel manageable. That gap stayed in our minds for a while.

Over time, paint by numbers kept standing out to us because it makes painting feel more open to regular people. You do not need training. You do not need to be naturally good at drawing. You just need a little time, a bit of patience, and a design you actually want to finish.

That is really where this website began. Not from some big plan, but from seeing how satisfying it is when people who “aren’t artistic” sit down with a kit and end up surprising themselves.

What we try to do well

We are not here to make painting feel exclusive or overly serious. Our goal is much simpler than that.

We want to offer paint by numbers kits that are enjoyable to work on, clear to follow, and worth finishing. That means paying attention to the things that actually affect the experience: the design itself, the canvas quality, the paint set, the clarity of the sections, and how easy it all feels once it arrives.

A lot of people notice the small details only after they have used a few kits. The print needs to be clean. The colors need to make sense. The brushes and materials need to feel decent, not like random extras thrown in a box. That is the kind of thing we think about when choosing what belongs on our site.

Why we stuck with paint by numbers

There are a lot of hobbies out there, so we did not choose this one by accident.

Paint by numbers has a way of being simple without feeling childish. It gives structure, which helps. For many people, that is the part that makes the difference. A blank canvas can feel intimidating. Numbered sections and matched paints make it easier to begin, and once you begin, it usually gets more enjoyable.

What we also liked is that it works for different kinds of people. Some use it to slow down after work. Some want something creative to do on weekends. Some buy kits as gifts. Others like the feeling of finishing something with their own hands and hanging it up at home after. In reality, it fits into everyday life better than a lot of hobbies do.

That is why we built the site around it.

More than a place to shop

One thing we have learned is that people do not only come to paint by numbers because they want to buy something. A lot of them are looking for a better way to spend their time.

Some want less screen time in the evening. Some want a hobby that feels calm but still gives them something to show for it. Some want to make a gift that feels more personal than something picked off a shelf. That is part of why this space keeps growing. It is practical, creative, and not too complicated.

We like that balance. It feels real.

How we choose what belongs here

We usually look for designs that people would genuinely want to spend hours with.

That may sound obvious, but it matters. A picture can look nice online and still make a frustrating paint by numbers kit. Some images are too busy. Some do not translate well into numbered sections. Some end up looking flat once turned into paint areas. So when we choose designs, we think about how they will actually paint, not just how they look as thumbnails.

We also keep custom kits in mind because those are personal. When someone sends a photo of a pet, a couple, or a family moment, they are not just buying a product. They are trusting the process a bit. That is why photo quality, layout, and clarity matter so much. Most people do not expect that lighting and distance can change the final result that much, but they do.

What we want this place to feel like

We want paintbynumberskit.art to be a place where people can find good kits without feeling overwhelmed, confused, or pushed around by too much marketing language.

That means clear information, helpful support, and a collection that feels chosen with some care. It also means staying close to what made us start this in the first place: the idea that creativity does not need to be perfect to be worth your time.

Sometimes people start with one kit just to see if they can do it. Then they finish it, frame it, and come back for another. That happens more than you would think.
